About Heather

Heather studied music at the Royal Northern College of Music and went on to gain a Masters of Music at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, studying with the late Dame Thea King.

Heather is a clarinettist whose styles and skills are incredibly varied. She performs as a soloist with her pianist Eileen Guppy with a very eclectic programme covering all styles of music. Her particular specialism is Klezmer and Jazz clarinet. Heather is in the Limelight Orchestra/Secret Symphony, which performs at festivals and many varied venues across the country.

Heather is also regularly in demand as an accompanist. She is Head of Music at Denstone Prep School, where she teaches classroom, conducts three choirs, coaches junior ensembles, and generally inspires the young generation of musicians. She is also a teacher of clarinet, saxophone, recorders, piano at the Senior School, where she is their resident accompanist, director of the Saxophone and Clarinet Ensembles, and musical support to the School Big Band.

Heather has been teaching for many years and spent 23 years at Repton School and 13 years at the Junior School of The Royal Northern College of Music. She first taught on the LMFL course in 2011.
