About František

Czech cellist František Brikcius studied at the Prague Conservatoire and completed his Master’s degree at the Janáček Academy of Music. He has dedicated himself to the interpretation of cello works written by composers of the 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries, particularly focusing on contemporary Czech composers. Alongside his sister Anna Brikciusová, he is a founding member of the "Duo Brikcius" and serves as the artistic director of the Festival Brikcius – a Chamber Music Concert Series in Prague, an annual Bach Festival Gers in France, and the Waltham Forest Cello Fest in London. František has also served as a jury member in various international music competitions.

As a soloist, František has performed at numerous festivals across Algeria, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Ghana, Israel, Italy, Ivory Coast, Japan, Liberia, Pakistan, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Sweden, Togo, Turkey, Uzbekistan, and the United Kingdom.

For many years, František has been teaching cello to students at all levels. He conducts cello master classes in the United Kingdom, France, Italy, and remotely online via Zoom/Skype. He has been a tutor on the Llandovery course for ten years.
