Jung Wha Lee  Harpist

 

Jung Wha Lee began her harp studies in her native Korea. In 1981 she attended Indiana University in Bloomington where she studied with Susann MacDonald and obtained her Bachelor of Music degree.

 

After being accepted at the famous Curtis Institute of Music in 1985, she continued her studies with Marilyn Costello and gained the prestigious Artist Diploma, awarded by the Institute.

 

While in the United States she received many awards, including First Prize in the Elizabeth Hopkin competition, in the Lorraine Close competition as well as in the Concero Competition at Indiana University.

 

She continued her studies with Jacqueline Borot, honorary professor at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris.

 

In recent years Jung Wha Lee has played in concerts extensively throughout the United States and Europe. She has given solo recitals and played in the Paris Orchestra, the National Orchestra of France, the Luxembourg Orchestra…

 

She has also performed in festivals in Evian, Nantua, Avignon, Nantes (“Les Folles Journées”), Saint Nazaire (“Consonances”), and Prades (“Pablo Casals”).
